Abstract

Objective: The present research project aims to identify possible low back pain in caregivers of children's neurological patients. Methods: It is a cross-sectional analytical study. A questionnaire developed by the researchers with the personal informations of the caregiver and the measurement of pain by the Visual Analogue Scale (EVA) was applied. The study sample consisted of 107 caregivers, the largest proportion being female (97.2%). Results: The act of caring is usually associated with the mother figure (85%). In the questioning about the presence of low back pain, it was verified that (83.2%) caregivers reported having pain or lumbar discomfort. Conclusion: The study concluded that most caregivers of children's neurological complaints interviewed had significant pain/discomfort. Therefore, it is emphasized that caregivers need more attention, as well as the importance of their inclusion in patient rehabilitation.
