Abstract: INTRODUCTION: The definition of stress urinary incontinence is preconized as the involuntary loss of urine during effort, exercise, sneeze or cough. The therapeutic approaches range from lifestyles modification, physical therapy or pharmacological alternatives. Thus, when these arrangements do not provide suitable symptomatic relief, surgery is often the only option available to improve the patient’s life quality. The suburethral phrosteses have become the preferential surgical procedure for the correction of stress urinary incontinence and the traditional slings( TVT), the most used. OBJECTIVE: Assess the frequency of complications of the suburethral prostheses used in surgical treatment of female stress urinary incontinence. METHOD: Retrospective study, based on the collection of data of clinical processes relative to women who were submitted to surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence, between 2015/2016. All data were coded and statiscally analised using Softwares SPSS 13.0 for Windows and Excel 2010. RESULTS: The sample was constituted by 100 women, 28% belonging to the age group of 50-60. Objective Cure rates regarding urinary incontinence when using Sling were 76.0% and the rate of pacients who have had some improvement was 93,0%. The most comum trans-operatory complications were bladder injury (2,0%) and major bleeding at the surgical site (1,0%). The more commum complaints after surgery were acute vaginitis (20,0%), urgent urination (17,0%) e dyspareunia (10,0%). CONCLUSION: The cure rate of urinary incontinence one year after sirgury for sling as similar as those presented in literature, such as the complications and complains rates related to the surgery.
