Título: Qualidade de vida em idosos atendidos no ambulatório de saúde mental de um hospital geral

Resumo: Background: It is notorious the significant increase of the elderly population not Brazil, a population that is defined by the World Health Organization by users who are Brazilians who generate 60 years of age. Therefore, it is necessary to deepen the studies and health care about the quality of life of the same, seen by an elderly patient, subject not not subject and requires health care of a better condition of life within its possibilities. Having as a place of study the Instituto de Medicina Integral Professor Fernando Figueira (IMIP) and having as elderly participants of the mental health outpatient clinic, we focus on those patients who are diagnosed with mental disorders, where are the main factors associated with these disorders are the low income poor education, poor housing conditions, poor physical conditions, and functional disabilities. Objective: To identify a perception about the quality of life of the elderly attending the mental health clinic of a general hospital. Method: The study was qualitative and intentional sample, which was performed with the elderly in the mental health ablation of a general hospital that had the application of a sociodemographic questionnaire followed by a semi-structured interview with questions on quality of life. The analysis of the interviews was used to analyze the content of Minayo, which applies to the study of the history, relationships, representations, beliefs, perceptions and opinions that humans make about how they live, feel and think. Results / Discussion: Eight elderly people, aged between 60 and 82 years, were interviewed, most of them women, with monthly income varying up to 3 minimum wages and one receiving less than one salary. As for training, four participants did not have access, two said they had not completed and two reported being trained. Regarding marital status, four single participants, one widow and three married. Exploring the collected material, four categories analyzed were analyzed from the interviews, where they deal with esperituality, basic rights, food and retirement as factors of great importance to have a good quality of life in the elderly phase of life. Final considerations: It was understood that he worked with perception of the quality of life of the elderly within a mental health clinic, if necessary for a need to perceive as needs found in these people as well as better care, that is paid. Ethical aspects: A research followed as norms and guidelines proposed for the Resolution n. 466/12 and only an initiative initiated after the approval of the Ethics Committee and the signatures of the participants did not have a Free and Informed Consent Form
