Relação do estado nutricional e o teste de velocidade de marcha (TVM) nas complicações pós operatórias de cirurgias abdominais em idosos.

Abstract

Objective: to evaluate a combination of nutritional and physical status with the Walk Testing (TVM) and the treatment of patients with arterial hypertension undergoing large abdominal surgeries. Methods: prospective study with patients undergoing major surgery. Demographic, anthropometric data, weights, height, calf circumference, body mass index, clinical data and clinical outcomes (post-surgical clinic, length of hospital stay and clinical evolution) were evaluated. For evaluation, we performed a screening for sarcopenia (SARC-F) and the diagnosis according to a Sarcopenia Working Group survey (EWGSOP). The data were recorded in a semi-structured form and with the help of the statistical program SPSS, version 13.0. Results: A total of 47 patients with a mean of 69.17 ± 6.81 were evaluated, and 63.80% were classified as having no sarcopenia. These had a higher prevalence of malnutrition, but were not significant in relation to the postoperative complications. The TVM was at risk of sarcopenia with a higher prevalence of anastomosis dehiscence (p = 0.04) and a longer hospital stay (p = 0.04). Conclusion: Sarcopenia is highly prevalent in large surgeries and has a high impact on nutritional status indicators. The risk of sarcopenia influenced the clinical outcome. They are more important in the literature on this subject.
