In order to evaluate the most relevant items in a neurological evaluation according to the viewpoint of neurologists and third-year neurology residents in the city of Recife, we have applied to them the same questionnaire as the one in the studies of Moore and Chalk in Canada, and Lima and Maranhão Filho in Brazil. From all items evaluated by the doctors, 18 were considered significant for achieving a grade of 3,5 or higher: fundoscopy examination, pupillary light reflex, pursuit eye movements, facial muscle strength measurement, speech articulation test, gait, muscle tone examination in arms and legs, finger-nose test, pronator drift, 5 tendon reflexes, plantar reflex, proprioception, and Romberg test. We have come to the conclusion that the opinion of doctors in Recife who participated in the study agreed in many aspects to the opinion of doctors from Canada and Rio de Janeiro, considering that 15 items were present in all three lists with a grade of 3,5 or higher.pt_BR
