Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the quality of life of children and adolescents with asthma treated at the Pediatric Pulmonology Outpatient Clinic of a reference hospital in the northeast of Brazil according to the classification of asthma severity. Method: Descriptive cross-sectional study, carried out through the inclusion of children and adolescents from 07 to 17 years of age, accompanied at the Pediatric Pulmonology Outpatient Clinic of the Institute of Integral Medicine. Fernando Figueira, Recife - PE, with diagnosis of asthma signed by a physician. Data collected through an interview, from a validated instrument and analyzed through descriptive and analytical statistics. Results: Interviewed 47 patients, mean age of 11.53 years, being 53.2% of the male gender. Average age of the companion 38.5 years, more than eight years of schooling (55.4%). Coming from the Metropolitan Region, with an average follow-up time in the 60-month outpatient clinic. The initial classification of asthma severity was higher for persistent severe (38.3%). Control level of asthma controlled in 78.7%. Level of asthma severity there were no statistically significant differences between the means of general score F = 0.74; Domain 1, 2 and 3. Conclusions: The level of control and the severity of asthma can influence the quality of life of asthmatic patients, emphasizing the importance of adequate follow-up.
