Resumo: Objectives: Considering the complexity of Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and your relationship with the metabolic syndrome, the study intends to evaluate the blood pressure levels of patients who have the syndrome, with and without obesity associated diagnosis treated at IMIP. Methods: This is a observacional study of transversal analytical character in which the variables were analyzed: age, weight, height , BMI , blood pressure, and gynecological and obstetric history. The data were subsequently compared with a control group of patients not suffering from the syndrome with and without obesity diagnosis. Results: We analyzed 44 patients , divided into four groups , each group consisting of 11 women . In the group of obese women and carriers of the syndrome, the prevalence of abnormal blood pressure ( ≥ 130x85 mmHg) it was 18.2 % (02 women) . Within the group of obese women with PCOS and not the result showed that 36.4 % of women ( 04 women ) had changes in blood pressure . In the group of non-obese women with Down syndrome and showed that only 9.1% of women had pressure change (01 women ) , which is the same result obtained in the non-obese women group and not carrying the PCOS. Conclusions: In our data , it was shown that obesity is more related to the elevation of blood pressure levels , regardless of their association with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome . Thus , BMI ≥ 30 is coupled to a high-profile risk factor for the development of hypertension than hyperandrogenism associated with PCOS.
