Resumo: Introduction: Football at a competitive level has been a target of great interest among young people in this sense, one must take into account the physical and biological adaptations required for the functions performed and also the energy and nutritional demand required for the level of training at which the individual is submitted. Thus, nutritional assessment is essential to ensure monitoring and adequate dietary adjustments that focus essentially on the athlete's health and success on the field. Objective: To evaluate the nutritional status and food consumption of adolescent soccer players in a sports club in the city of Recife/PE. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, including 18 male athletes from the Under-13 category during the period from August 2019 to July 2020 at the Nutrition Clinic at Sport Clube do Recife (PE). The research took place through the collection of anthropometric measures to estimate the caloric need and assessment of nutritional status, percentage of body fat (% BF) and later, estimate of lean body mass, two 24-hour reminders (R24h) were also applied for analysis of the intake of macronutrients, dietary fibers and micronutrients (iron and calcium). Conclusion: The presence of overweight adolescent athletes and those with moderately high% BF highlights the importance of nutritional intervention with a focus on the health and performance of athletes in the field. With regard to food consumption, it was possible to conclude that both caloric intake, as well as macro and micronutrient intake, as well as dietary fiber are inadequate, demonstrating the need for food education aimed at healthy eating practices that perpetuate throughout life.
